Heres my idea for those pesky henchies: Put them in stances! I dont mean like skills, but a toolbar of the way they act, something like this:

Aggresive Stance: Henchman will attack at will.
Defensive Stance: Henchman will only attack if they get attacked

How this could help in some situations:
Need to pull with a bow, but cant cuz henchies will run in.
While holding an item (ex. ashes) you cant tell your henchies who to attack, so they will randomly attack any of the enemies.
Thats just 2 small examples.

I think its a great idea, seeing you will be in different positions at different times. Hopefully ANet reads this

ANET has been saying things about "improved henchmen controls" comming soon for a bit now. Then again, they have also been talking about trade improvments which may or mat not include an auction house. Hench controls need to be improved, but I dont really care how, as long as it is an improvment

They also said they'd fix the aggro problem with keg/book and such. Of course they did.....after waiting a few months.

Lets just hope anet wont blow the job with henchmen improved controls.

To that moment, id rather be patient and see what would happen

I'm sure this will be somthing for C3... Still they need to be fixed somehow.
